Another blog, another lesson learned.
Another version of hidden costs-to double the cost of a move.
The story may not have been true. The characters just happen to resemble real people... or do they?
We have received a request for a housing survey in Budapest. The lady is moving to Szolnok. I looked around and said: a 19 m³ box car, three people - that's enough.
Dad didn't understand. „In a circle? What?” he asked. I said, „Why, is there a secret cellar, storage room, attic?” „No, that's all there is. But they brought it up from Vác in two rounds, and both cars were relatively full.” „About the size of the one I'm going to take down,” he replied. I reassured him: we'd manage.
The big day has come. The car is three quarters full, the apartment is empty. Big furniture: bed, two wardrobes, fridge. The rest is boxes and bags. The client comes, looks at me, wonders: „Where are your things?” „It was a garage sale,” I said, smiling.
Since then we have moved them from Szolnok to Vác. It still fits. 😊
💡 Lesson learned:
Don't fall for the big advertising. Look into the company, ask questions, consider.
I could have sold for two cars at double the cost - but I'm not sure we'd be called a second time.
